Music Lessons

I offer lessons in piano, organ, trumpet, singing, music theory and composition, as well as tutoring for SQA Music examinations. Click below for further informatiion, including fees.

Accompaniment

I have considerable experience as a musical accompanist on piano and organ. I have played for countless rehearsals and in concerts, shows and recitals.

I can also provide piano accompaniment for music exam candidates, including rehearsal.

Wedding Music

Music is integral to the success of any wedding, whether during the ceremony itself, beforehand or afterwards. I have years of experience of tailoring music to each couples’ specific requirements.

I can also provide suitable piano music during your drinks reception and/or dinner, creating a bespoke experience to make the whole day even more special and memorable.

Composition/Musical Arrangment

I have composed music for all sorts of occasions from choral and organ msuic for church services to civic fanfares for ceremonial events (including Freedom of the City for Sir Alex Ferguson and Mikhail Gorbachev). I can provide bespoke music for whatever event you have in mind and can also arrange music for whatever ensemble you wish to employ on any occasion.

Fees for this service are by negotiation based on the forces involved and the length of the music required.

Trumpeter

Over the years I have played the trumpet in hundreds of concerts, recitals and theatre productions. I can put together a fanfare team or other brass ensemble for your special event.

Church Music

I have been Organist & Director of Music at Devana Parish Church, Fonthill Road (formerly Ferryhill Parish Church) in Aberdeen for over 25 years and have also acted as organist for civic services, and weddings and funerals throughout the city. Prior to my appointment at Devana I was organist at St Mark’s Church, and also sang in both St Andrew’s Cathedral and University of Aberdeen Chapel Choirs.

Conductor/Musical Director

I am an experienced Musical Director having fulfilled this role with Phoenix Theatre and Phoenix Youth Theatre in Aberdeen for the past 30 years, taking charge of the musical side of around 50 shows and other performances. I have conducted various choirs, orchestras and bands, including Aberdeen Sinfonietta and Aberdeen Chamber (now City) Orchestra.
